––  James Marsters WILL NOT be at Dragon*Con in 2010. James Marsters announced today that he has had to cancel his appearance at Dragon*Con 2010 due to filming commitments for the upcoming SyFy series "Three Inches". This is unfortunate news for us the fans but we do wish James good luck and look forward to seeing him on our TV screens again in the near future.

––  The Mystery of Hanny's Voorwerp! We want everyone to join the Space Track on Friday night at 10pm, in the Hilton's Crystal Ballroom when we unveil this mystery. We'll have a lot of fun doing it was well. : – ) Seriously! A comic is always fun! There will be music. There will be space science. There will be big screens. There will be give–a–ways. There will be costumes! Do you know what a 'Voorwerp' is?? No? Then just imagine it. What do you think a 'Voorwerp' might look like? (i suggest something green!) There will be prizes for the best 'Voorwerp' costume. Now you KNOW that's something you want to see. lol Join Dr. Pam Gay and her Astronomy Cast co–host Fraser Cain, Dr. Bill Keel, and the two young students who illustrated the comic and learn all about The Mystery of Hanny's Voorwerp and Galaxy Zoo too!

––  JAMES MARSTERS! Why, one might ask, would we be mentioning the very talented actor, James Marsters, on the website for the Space and Science Tracks? Actually for an excellent reason. We are welcoming James Marsters as a guest of the Space Track in 2010!! No, Space Track is not going soft and giving up hard science in favor of Hollywood science. We are taking advantage of a unique opportunity to have James Marsters talk about his experience of playing Living Legend, Buzz Aldrin, in the made–for–tv movie 'MoonShot'. This will be strictly related to Marsters work on 'MoonShot' and audience questions will be screened to ensure they are on topic. We at the Space Track are very excited about this panel and hope all of you are as well. Go rent 'MoonShot', come up with some questions and come join us. The panel is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 2:30pm in the Hilton's Crystal Ballroom.

––  The Space Track has done something that has never been done before in the seven years that I've been involved with the Space and Science Track(s). As of 4–8–10, all of the audio from the 2009 Space Track has been edited and linked to the madscientist website!! It's taken a very long time but it has finally been done and it is the first year that ALL the recorded panels have been available. Also, to add to your Space Track listening experience, all of the accompanying visual presentations that we managed to get from our guests are linked as well. Unfortunately, not all the panels were recorded successfully and those that took place away from the track room are also not there but there is 23 hours of Space Track audio now available for your listening pleasure. : - ) 15 panels have visuals available and a couple of them have not just pictures but some video as well. I hope you all take will take some time to listen to some of the panels you may have missed or on topics you have an interest in for those of you who missed out on Dragon*Con in 2009. Listening to them all again not only reminded me of just how much fun we had with our guests, but what a truly amazing group of people commit themselves to passing along their knowledge each year. Enjoy the audio and please feel free to drop me a line and tell me what you liked or disliked and what topics you would like covered on the track.

––  Dragon*Con 2010 Live Astronomy Those who have been with us for a few years know that late nights on the Space Track means Live Astronomy (weather cooperating). The Fabulous Dr. Keel, with his excellent connections, has managed to get us time on the SARA (Southern Association of Reseach in Astronomy) telescope located at Kitt Peak in Arizona. We've seen some incredible sights and are looking forward to many more. Dragon*Con 2010 is looking good to add another dimension to our Live Astronomy viewings. Once again due to Dr. Keel's connections, we may well be doing our Live Astronomy from Chile! Oh those southern skies! lol Dr. Keel has even provided a sneak peek. Notice the new astronomical pictures in the slide show. All are from our Live Astronomy sessions except the first 10. Those first 10 pictures are Dr. Keel's first images taken from the SARA telescope in Cerro Tololo, Chile! Just a teasing of what we hopefully have to look forward to at Dragon*Con 2010. If you Google him and look deep you'll find this at: www.milwaukeetimelords.org saying "Live Astronomy (space track) - The science teacher you wished you had in school led a panel which involved the use of a telescope alloted for our use for a few hours." My continued thanks to Dr. Keel.

––  Dragon*Con 2010 Space Track Guests Guest lists have been way ahead of past years and Space Track guests seem to be leading the way! lol Check out the guest pictures on this page to see which Space Track guests have already been approved for Dragon*Con 2010. I'll be adding more guest pics as I get confirmations of attendance. Have YOU started your Dragon*Con planning yet? : - ) One non-guest related news item. In case you haven't heard, Dragon*Con is now a 5 hotel convention!! Adding the Sheraton just wasn't enough – The Westin has been added as a host hotel for 2010. Rumor has it that they even have hotel rooms available!! : - )
